I would like you to meet Jackie and her Etsy shop: 222Lane.
If you love being surprised and finding all types of interesting items, then you will love the items at 222Lane.
Let’s get to know 222Lane and Jackie:
I started my business around the fact that I was constantly going into a store and saying “This would be cute if were…… “Only if they had this in…” So finally I just started making the things I needed myself also being a hippie in another life I stand firmly behind the recycle, reduce and reuse motto so nothing made me happier then being able to take vintage discarded items and make them beautiful and functional again, and they just don’t make things like they use to.
I always wanted to be my own boss and always felt there was something not quite right about spending more time with strangers at your workplace then you spend with your family and being a single mother I knew the best way I would be able to accomplish my goals and be the type of mother I wanted to be was working for myself and then I found Etsy.
How did you come up with your shop name?
The number 222 has always been a significant number in my life. I always just so happen to look at the clock when it’s 2:22 or get a new job and the address is 222. Have an “epiphany” (if you will) and notice it’s 2:22 I’m always paying attention to the signs so it only seemed right that when starting this new venture I use something that has guided me along the way, and I added lane just to give some hint that I sell products for the home and I have always liked Lane versus Street or Boulevard.
How would you describe your shop?
I would describe my shop as an eclectic mix of unique items for the home in a variety of design styles. When your looking for something unique and different a statement piece or a custom piece you come to 222 Lane.
What inspires you?
Everything! I have been inspired sitting at the park with my daughter, watching movies and seeing something in the background, packaging really just everything but when I see unique vintage/retro items that need a make over that’s when the creative juices really start to flow.
Which item in your shop is your favorite to make/find?
My favorite items to find are the really unique wood pieces like my chevron wall cabinet, or any of the other cabinets I have done. I will also be adding soft furnishing soon and I am really excited at the fun pillows I will be offering.
If you were shipwrecked on a desert island, what are the 3 crafty must haves?
Decoupage glue, I figure there will be lots of leaves around to glue and maybe use as wallpaper for my hut. My tool bag and a needle and thread.
5% of all 222 Lane’s proceeds go towards our annual “Beautiful World Project” Where we as a company will plan and participate in an activity that gives back to our environment and communities such as tree planting, donations to shelters or schools, ect. Every customer who made a purchase in that year (starting in 2013) will receive an “I helped make a beautiful world” gift ie: magnets, pens, water bottles, ect. depending on that years promo. The annual event will be held on February 22 nd of every year! Stay in touch and keep up with the beautiful world project on our blog!
